TOSCANA IGT
Modus Primo
The story
Modus – Latin for “method” and “measure” – is Ruffino’s modern expression of a blend of three noble varieties. Modus is a highly acclaimed Supertuscan, whose first vintage was 1997. Modus Primo represents the next step in the evolution of Modus, achieved through further selection, in every vintage, of the excellence of the Poggio Casciano terroir.
Winemaking notes
The Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested separately, according to the perfect ripening of the grapes. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, followed by 18 months aging in new French oak barriques.
Color
Deep garnet and ruby red.
Aroma
The bold opening conveys the aristocratic expressivity of the grape varieties, individually recognizable but well blended, with dark notes of mature black fruit. Elegant and discreet, the wood completes the bouquet.
Tasting profile
The first sip seems almost haughty, but this wine is generous and complex, with a dark core and a radiant finish. The tannins are high and precise and mark the boundary with a gloriously clear finish.
