Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG
Riserva Ducale Oro
The story
The first vintage of Riserva Ducale was made in 1927 to pay tribute to the Duke of Aosta who loved this wine. Twenty years later, Ruffino celebrated the extraordinary 1947 vintage by making the first Riserva Ducale Oro. Riserva Ducale Oro is only produced in exceptional vintages in order to allow this wine for age at length.
Winemaking notes
This trademark wine is only produced in the best vintages when wine is made separately, parcel by parcel. This is how Ruffino respects the territorial typicalities and variations in soil and climate. The fermentation takes place in temperature controlled steel tanks at 27° with constant punching down for about 10 days, followed by skin maceration for another 10 days. The malolactic fermentation occurs in concrete tanks.
Color
Garnet with brick red highlights.
Aroma
Incense overtones lead to pencil, wood and graphite as well as cherries macerated in alcohol well integrated with fruity, green and plant nuances, followed by an inky finish.
Tasting profile
Precise flavors balanced with smooth yet impactful tannins, fruit macerated in alcohol and light spices resulting in intense and soft sensations. The structure and acidity provide an enduring finish.
